Teamplay Workshop brings award-winning games to you, ready to play in minutes. The fun starts when your master game facilitator invites you to the table to teach you how to play and how to win. You skip the rulebook and quickly immerse in the fun and flow of the game. Most games take about 15 to 60 minutes to play.

Our award winning games come from the world’s best game designers, with unique themes and game “mechanics” that create game experiences that make players want to “go again!” even if you lose to the security guards in Burgle Bros.

A Teamplay Workshop experience is more than playing games. Games are specially modified for each group. And there are significant research-proven benefits to wellbeing, relationships, and more that come from award-winning game design, and Teamplay Workshop’s unique game facilitation methods.

Teamplay Workshop has over 200 games ready to play. Games are selected and modified for each play to create an environment where fun is the pathway to growth, wellbeing, and social connection. Research shows playing board games improves memory, wellbeing, and creates social connections. Those are great reasons to play. And, playing games is great fun!

Teamplay Workshop was founded from decades facilitating team development. Teams can also grow through individual or team assessments and a series of game based team development workshops as part of an overall team development plan.

The research for teams is clear. Games invite curiosity, new ways of interacting, and create powerful shared experiences. When teams have “Fun With Purpose”, they develop stronger relationships and better ways of working.

That’s what Teamplay Workshop is. Better social connections and wellbeing for all, and professional development for teams, just from having fun together.

What Is “Teamplay Workshop”?

About Mike Southwell

I am the founder of Teamplay Workshop. For more than 30 years I’ve guided teams through transformational change in industries like social services, manufacturing, banking, software, telecommunications, and healthcare.

My search for powerful learning tools began in 1986. Over decades of consulting, I honed my craft of facilitating meaningful learning experiences grounded in research and valued by the people and teams I served. Again and again, I discovered that games were amazing tools for learning, connection, and growth.

Games are now core to my consulting work. Games create unique moments where people connect, think differently, and solve problems together. Games challenge us, engage us, and bring out our best thinking - helping us strengthen communication, trust, collaboration, and relationships, while enhancing wellbeing.

Research increasingly confirms what I observe in practice: play is powerful. Studies - including longitudinal research spanning decades - show games help people build relationships, collaborate together, and improve overall wellbeing. These benefits support older adults, where games can support cognitive wellbeing and social connection. The same mechanisms positively impact teams looking to improve their effectiveness.

I’ve been a certified experiential educator since the mid-1980s, designing immersive learning experiences for business teams throughout my career. I hold a Master of Science in Training from Leicester University and numerous certifications in leadership development, coaching, education, and organizational change.

Today, Teamplay Workshop integrates decades of consulting expertise, recent research, and award-winning games to deliver the transformative power of play to you, by creating engaging game experiences that are truly Fun With Purpose.
